01 Oct The Rosary in October – El Rosario en octubre
Each of the five decades of the rosary culminates in a mystery from the life of Jesus. There are four sets of mysteries, each containing five pivotal moments from the life of Jesus including the Joyful, Sorrowful, Luminous, and Glorious mysteries.
When praying the rosary, we enter into one set of mysteries at a time, walking with Mary and Jesus as we meditate on the
depths of God’s love for us. The Church traditionally prays certain mysteries on certain days of the week, as follows:
Monday: Joyful
Tuesday: Sorrowful
Wednesday: Glorious
Thursday: Luminous
Friday: Sorrowful
Saturday: Joyful
Sunday: Glorious
This is a Marian Devotion: we are asking Mary to pray for us and intercede for us to Christ, her Son, as she occupies a unique and meaningful place in Heaven as the Holy Mother of God.
Throughout the Rosary, we meditate on a set of Mysteries, each of which represent a pivotal moment in Jesus’ life. We walk with Jesus and Mary as we meditate on the depths of God’s love for us through these mysteries.
By repeating many times, we are able to allow our bodies to relax in the comfort of repetition, so our minds and our hearts can be open and orient towards God.
